Tour Plan
Upon arrival at Asmara International Airport, you will be met, assisted with one of our experienced guides and transferred to your hotel.
After a short rest and breakfast, begin your tour of Asmara, also known as "Piccola Roma" (Little Rome). This UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized in 2017, is famous for its modernist and Art Deco architecture. Asmara has been named the world’s fourth-best comeback city and Africa’s best city. During the tour, explore its stunning buildings, including the Fiat Tagliero building, Benito’s old party headquarters (now the Ministry of Education), the beautifully designed old Opera House (now Cinema Asmara), the National Museum, the Main Post Office, the Roman Cathedral, the Grand Mosque, and the Orthodox Cathedral. Visit the lively market square, the well-known Medeber recycling market, the Tank Graveyard, and more.
Continue your tour to explore the city's vibrant culture, local cafés, and historic neighborhoods. Stroll through its charming streets, experience traditional Eritrean hospitality, and discover hidden gems that showcase Asmara’s rich history and unique charm.
Early in the morning, begin your tour with a scenic drive from Asmara to Massawa, descending from 2300m to sea level through winding roads and breathtaking views. This route, often called "three seasons in two hours," takes you through diverse landscapes and climates in just three hours.
Upon arrival, start your Massawa city tour. Explore this historic port, known as the "City of Islands" and the "Pearl of the Red Sea," which has been a key trade hub for centuries. Admire its beautiful Turkish-style architecture, visit bustling shopping arcades and see stunning mosques.
Continue your tour with a visit to the pristine Gurgsum Beach, where you can relax or enjoy world-class swimming. With its rich history, scenic beauty and delicious seafood, Massawa offers a perfect mix of culture and recreation.
After breakfast, continue the Massawa city tour.
Take a tour to visit the Rashaida ethnic group in the environs of Massawa. The Rashaida are skilled livestock and camel herders, known for their trade along the Red Sea coast. Rashaida women wear distinctive black and red dresses with silver-embroidered veils.
Enjoy a cultural tour, interact with the community, experience a traditional coffee ceremony and taste local porridge.
In the late afternoon, return to Asmara.
After an early breakfast, take a tour and drive downhill from Asmara to the charming town of Keren.
Visit the lively Monday Keren Market, where traders from nearby areas gather. Continue the tour of Keren, exploring its highlights, including the famous Mariam Dearit shrine inside a Baobab tree, the British and Italian World War II cemeteries, the old Railway Station from the 1930s, the 19th-century Tigu Egyptian Fort, St. Antony Romanesque Church, and the old Mosque.
Take a cultural tour to meet the Tigre and Bilen ethnic groups living around Keren. The Tigre people are semi-pastoralists and farmers, known for their poetry and singing. The Bilen people are mainly farmers and traders, with women recognized for their colorful clothing, nose rings made of gold, silver or copper, and beautiful henna tattoos.
Enjoy a tour with the locals, mingle with them, and experience a traditional coffee ceremony.
In the afternoon, drive back to Asmara, admiring the breathtaking peaks and valleys along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the airport for departure.
