Massawa is a unique city with Turkish-style buildings, lively markets, ancient mosques and delicious seafood. You can also visit Gurgsum beach, a perfect spot for swimming and relaxing by the sea.

The magnificent Rashaida women are known for their black and red geometrically patterned dresses, their long and heavy – burga – elaborately embroidered with silver threads, beads and sometimes seed pearls. Late in the afternoon, travel back uphill from Massawa to Asmara.
